Would you buy the iPhone 5 if it looked like this?

A mockup of the iPhone 5, from This is my next (Courtesy of This ismy next)
Rumors about the iPhone 5 have indicated that the next Apple handset will be essentially the same as its predecessor. But they aren’t buying that at “This is my next,” the temporary home of Engadget alumni such as post author Joshua Topolsky.
Instead, the blog has rounded up the rumors and released this mockup of a radically different iPhone woven together from several tips.
According to their sources, the iPhone 5 will have a tapered profile, a larger, capacitive button with multi-gesture capability and a nearly bezel-free front.
The mockup shows off a 3.7-inch screen, which the blog says will have 312ppi. That still makes it a “retina display,” as pixels can’t be distinguished at a distance of 12 inches.
The phone may also make use of a dual GSM/CDMA Gobi chipset, making it a truly global device, the blog said, basing that speculation on comments Verizon CFO Fran Shammo made in the company’s last earnings call.
This my next has updated the original post to say that the metal back on the mockup is not a prediction, just a result of having based the graphic on the iPod Touch. They’ve also posted a reader’s unibody mockup of the phone.
It’s important to stress that this is just a mockup and a visualization of some of the rumors out there. Still, the graphic makes for a stunning visualization of the speculation out there.
Would you buy the iPhone 5 if it looked like this? Let us know in the comments.
